Costume – The Journal of the Costume Society:
January 2012
Interesting Articles in this Edition are:
– Queen Anne Commands: Clothing the Kettle Drummer to the Ordnance, 1705-1708 by Pat Poppy
– The Clothing of a Georgian Banker, Thomas Coutts: A Story of Museum Dispersal by David Wilcox
We couldn’t believe some of the info in here – it was a real jewel of an edition. Both Pat Poppy and David Wilcox write fascinating articles and with real skill and we lapped it up with relish. We’re less sure about how much of an article we’re allowed to copy, so we’re gonna err on the side of caution and only put up a few of the images. If you’re interested in the Middling Sort’s dress then it’s well worth getting this mag and reading David Wilcox’s article – it makes an exciting read. He has worked from a collection of clothing owned by a Banker and it’s some of these dress items that we’ve posted up.
