Description
Evelina
By Frances Burney
When this was published in 1778, we can only imagined it became a steadfast favourite. It is gentle, and real, and well written. We read it for the first time a couple of years back and actually got swept along in the story.
We won’t tell you all the ins and outs of the story as half the fun of reading is finding that all out for yourself, but we would suggest this book for a nice summer read :).
(and if you’re into 18th century culture then it has some lovely eye opening bits about general life. )
This particular version is part of Penguin’s English Library range – full of pretty patterns and paper covers to the otherwise classic novels.
